How the Scholarship Made a Difference
– The scholarship lessened the financial pressure of tuition, books, and living expenses, allowing me to dedicate more time to academics, campus leadership, and professional development. It gave me the freedom to say “yes” to opportunities that will push me forward in my career and dreams.
Experience with BFW
Being recognized by Black Family Weekend was more than just financial it was a reminder that my hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. It felt empowering to be supported by a community that values education, culture, and leadership.
Personal Background and Challenges Overcome
As a first-generation college student raised by a single mother, I’ve always had to balance school, work, and leadership responsibilities. At times, the financial strain and the weight of expectations felt overwhelming. This scholarship lightened that burden and showed me that perseverance and community support go hand in hand.
Future Vision and Gratitude
Looking ahead, I plan to continue pursuing a career in business and leadership, utilizing my platform to mentor younger students and future leaders. I’m deeply grateful to BFW for investing in me not just financially, but by affirming my potential and dreams.
Giving Back / Paying It Forward
I’m committed to paying forward the generosity I’ve received. Whether it’s through mentoring, creating opportunities, or giving back financially in the future, I want to be part of the cycle that ensures more students like me have the chance to pursue their goals without limitation.”
